Citrix Infrastructure Engineer - Cape Town SA

Accountability

As the Citrix Infrastructure Engineer, you will hold a key role within the Support and Operations Functions, managing the Citrix Infrastructures for our clients.

It is the Citrix Infrastructure Engineer’s responsibility to ensure all areas of the Citrix Infrastructure Workspace for our clients are maintained and updated.

It is the role of the Citrix Infrastructure Engineer to conduct Roadmaps for our clients to draw out the necessary upgrade paths for their Citrix Environments. The role requires the Engineer to keep on top of Citrix Whitepapers, monthly patches and update paths, as well as being aware of Support Periods for different Service Releases.

IT is then their responsibility to arrange for upgrade to the necessary patch / release versions, whilst adhering to Change Control, where appropriate.

Objective of this role

You will be responsible for the management / patching and administration of Citrix Environments for customers within a Managed Service Provider Environment.

You will be required to be the Lead Technical Contact on Projects that need delivering, but also being an escalation point should the Service Desk not be able to support certain Citrix related Issues, but also ensuring that all Bluecube’s standards are upheld throughout the process.

Documenting all Citrix Project Delivery / Citrix Service Delivery processes within Bluecube’s Document Management System – Compass - and adhering to any additional best practice for 3^rd party solutions.

Giving a clear and concise handover to the Service Desk for any Project related work, and assisting the Service Delivery Team with Citrix escalations within a Full Managed Support Service.

Within this ever-evolving IT Landscape, there is a need for the Citrix Infrastructure Engineer to learn new processes, procedures and best practice. We also expect our Engineers to keep up with the latest technologies and will offer assistance / direction with training to help keep you above the curve.

Responsibilities

In addition to the requirements described above there are some very specific responsibilities that come with the role:

• Lead Citrix Projects and be the central technical contact for the Service Desk for any escalations

• Deliver Projects in a timely fashion detailing updates throughout the Project Lifecycle

• Communicate clearly and concisely through all business channels

• Investigate IT Industry Best Practice and ensure all aspects of your work conform to these best practices.

• Update any procedures and processes in a timely fashion, incorporating IT Industry Best Practice

• Own all work and procedures undertaken in the Citrix Infrastructure Engineer role

Skills Required

• Computer Science or similar qualification.

• Experience delivering IT Projects within a Managed Service Provider Environment (Desirable)

• Networking concepts / understanding of networking protocols.

• Security technologies, implementing Security Best Practices within a Citrix Environment

• Knowledge with troubleshooting Microsoft and 3^rd party systems – specifically within a Citrix Environment

• Knowledge and experience in the use of the Microsoft 365 landscape, including Exchange, Sharepoint, Azure – specifically the integration within the Citrix Environment.

• Continual Improvement – Always looking to improve, learn more, striving to be the best.
• Knowledge of deployment / updating vDISKs in a Non-persistent image setup – along with patch cycles.
• Knowledge of Updating to later versions of Citrix LTSR how to manage these in large Citrix Farms.
• Knowledge of managing Citrix Policies through WEM and how it sits alongside a Windows environment using Windows Group Policy.
